Who we are
Rob Cousins, Managing Director
Rob Cousins has been a Care Operator in Health and Social Care since 2003.
Rob had planned to retire in 2022 but, whilst researching his family history, came across some audio tapes of his grandfather. Hearing his grandfather’s familiar voice for the first time in 30 years brought memories flooding back and started a chain of events that lead to the creation of Know My Memories.
Rob says, “Like many families, much of my family history now consists of black and white photos in a drawer. If I have learnt anything over recent years, it that the best time to record a family and person’s life is when they are alive. Once this moment has passed memories fade, unanswered questions remain unanswered and old photos are simply old photos.”
Away from work, Rob is married with two grown up children and lives in beautiful Bournemouth. In his spare time, Rob enjoys playing a lot of tennis and golf, as well as spending time on his boat.
Portia Cousins, CX Director
Portia Cousins has been providing training for staff working within Health and Social Care for the last 15 years.
This has allowed Portia and her husband, Rob, to see firsthand how important communication is between loved ones, their families and professionals working with them.
Portia has found her work hugely rewarding, and comments on where her passion for Know My Memories stems from, “Added to my career, as my parents age, it has become clear that our family history is being lost. It’s our intention that Know My Memories can work to improve both communication between families and reduce beloved family members detailed past form being lost.”
When Portia is not working with the fabulous team, she spends a lot of time trying to hit a tennis ball! Travelling is her other passion with a trip to Norway and the F1 track at Monza in the diary.
Rosie Cousins, Operations Director
Rosie Cousins might be the youngest member of the Know My Memories team, but that makes her no less valuable. And her life experiences have provided the perfect foundation as another passionate member of the Know My Memories team.
After graduating university, Rosie travelled and worked abroad for almost two years. During this time, she struggled to keep in contact with my grandparents due to different time zones and working schedules.
Rosie says, “Since coming home, I have loved spending time with my grandparents, learning more about their experiences. I have really appreciated being part of developing this App with the aim to keep families connected and provide everyone with the opportunity to tell and record their story.”
Outside of work, Rosie too shares a keen interest in tennis, with her parents. They are a competitive family! Rosie also enjoys trying (and often failing) the New York Times daily puzzles or a sudoku.
Kay Mumford, Marketing Director
Kay Mumford has worked in Marketing for more than 15 years and came into Health and Social Care in 2021, working in marketing roles at a couple of software houses.
Kay’s passion for Care, like many, stems from her own experiences. Kay elaborates, “I was fortunate to have had many grandparents and great grandparents as a child. It gave me a good insight into the aging process and some of the physical and mental ailments associated.”
Realising her passion for the sector, Kay has established a marketing agency specialising in Social Care.
Kay jumped at the chance to work on the project with the Know My Memories team. Like everyone, she is very excited by the prospect of presenting something hugely valuable to families.
Outside of work, Kay enjoys spending time with her young son and husband. And with a new business, old pursuits are pretty limited! A good weekend usually includes cooking for family and friends.
